Speaking in the Seanad today Green Party Senator Pauline O’Reilly “that for the first time sixteen year olds in Wales got the opportunity to vote this week, and again something that we in the Green Party have been looking at and calling for for a long time.
O’Reilly went on to say “I think if we want to get people engaged in politics, and we do, and we should, then people need to be engaged as early as possible. It needs to go right through our education system, but in order for it to have meaning people have to a vote in order to express all of those things that their feeling, because its no point in saying here’s the education for something that might happen in several year’s time, something that needs to be imminent that you have to have that responsibility in your hands.”
