Senator Pauline O’Reilly said today in the Seanad that the reopening of business gives hope to so many. Maternal health services have been announcing reopening of services over the last week too. She pointed out that while partners in University Hospital Galway could now visit for one hour per day, it was three hours in the Coombe and the hospitals in the North West were yet to open to fathers.
“Maternal healthcare is a postcode lottery, which is not the fault of the hospitals. Midwives have been heroes throughout the pandemic and it is now time for the whole of society to address the issue post-pandemic. The National Maternity Strategy must be implemented in full and appears to have been put on hold”.
