Speaking in the Seanad today Green Party Senator Pauline O’Reilly said “I’m kind of stunned that Senator Mullen is continuing to say that we have to have a conversation that is fifty fifty. Actually, the Irish people have already voted on this issue and we have abortion in this country, it was very much needed, and people, including myself, looked for it for a really long time”.
O’Reilly went on to say in relation to the review of the legislation on abortion “I also look forward to the review of the legislation, but I think we have to put stakeholders front and centre, those who have been leaving this country for a long time and those who continue to leave this country because they don’t have everything they need here. So let’s have stakeholders, those who are actually impacted by terminations front and centre when it comes to reviewing this legislation”.
